Where have all the “Flowers Gone?” 2024 is about my mother’s garden planted by me from seed for her viewing outside the front window of our family home in Vancouver. The home was sold in 2021. Today these flowers are gone. Birdlife around my mother’s garden was plentiful and the birds were encouraged to visit by the flowers planted, by providing water, and a birdbath, and simply, we had no cats around. A peaceful garden full of life, colour, textures, scents all year round, even in snowy winter. It self sustained as the birds dropped seeds, dug up insects, and nested in the ornamental cherry trees, seeking shelter in a few bird houses and under the eaves of the roof.
